By going one above todayŠ—Ès current wild wild west landscape of digital sampling and officially licensing a legendary Š—…60s-era song thatŠ—Ès made its rounds in the golden era of sample based hip-hop.Akshin Alizadeh, the man from Azerbaijan, is the lucky one tapped from the labelŠ—Ès roster to remix Marlena ShawŠ—Ès Š—“Woman of the Ghetto.Š—? The producerŠ—Ès strong funk and nu-jazz influences, as well as his ability to combine funky grooves with punchy hip-hop beats, are on full display once again. Rightfully dramatic orchestral strings give way to bluesy rhythmic wah-wah guitar plucking, slightly cabaret-ish piano, pitch bending keys, and a totally sultry sax. The percussion sounds like signature Alizadeh with a flickering hat pattern, well placed snare rolls, and punchy interplay with the kick. For the DJs needing to spice things up, an instrumental is included.
